The Rotary Club of Bombay Powai is one of the active Clubs in North-eastern part of Mumbai and devoted to service and fellowship.  Our Club was chartered on March 11, 1991 and was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bombay East. Our charter President was Mr. Mukund Ranade, Dist Governor Mr. Sippy Rao and RI President, our very own Mr. Raja Saboo.  This was a community just evolving, the fellowship was marked by camaraderie and the Club was the centre of all activities in the newly emerging Hiranandani Gardens. The place of meeting initially was Gambhir Office in Eden 1, but we shifted to the Hiranandani Foundation School when it started. In the first year itself we had memorable programs, some of which were talks by renowned personalities like Mr. Pasricha, Mr. Khairnar, Mr. Karmarkar, Mr. Paresh Raval.

Activities and Events:  In subsequent years the Club has had very successful Quiz Shows, Vocational and Career guidance programs, Projects like clothing the underprivileged, collection for the Latur victims, gifting of Braille readers, listening devices etc to the school for the blind at Dadar, collection for Gujarat earthquake victims, gifting of computers for schools for the underprivileged, our ongoing project of support to our adopted school in Chandivili, scholarships and grants to needy students, the current project of building Public toilets (incidentally, Rotary's very First Project in 1906) with the assistance of Sulabh International, and School improvement under CAPS assistance.  Talent nights organized by the Club members included singing, mimicry and fashion shows. Our Club was also the winner of maximum events at the inaugural ROTAL.

This Club has inspired the incorporation of Interact Club and Rotaract Club with a membership of students from schools and colleges in the region.

Membership: The membership of the Club has grown in multiples over last few years. The unique single classification concept of Rotary allows the Rotary Club of Bombay Powai a membership comprising of high performance cross-section of Mumbai's successful business and professional men and women, all accomplishers in their own field ranging from doctors to architects, legal luminaries to bankers, entrepreneurs to educationalists and merchandisers to communicators. The Club offers a stimulating fellowship based on a fascinating diversity of interests in business, arts, sciences and the professional expertise of its members.

Service is our motto: From the very beginning the pulse of Rotary has been and always will be community service. Today the Rotary Club of Bombay Powai has diversified its activities through the work of over several committees constituted to look after the various avenues of service. The Club has been able to attempt a number of service programs only because of generous donations of time and money by the members.

The Club with such quality origins, the Club has never looked back and there is never a dull moment. It has striven for improvements year after year, to its present status.
